Boiler Scrappage Scheme - Saving the planet and your wallet at the same time?
26 February 2010
One of the few good things to come out of Alistair Darling's pre-budget report was the £400 per household encouragement to replace our old boilers.

In a scheme limited to England, 125,000 vouchers have been made available to help fund the cost of replacing old, inefficient boilers. The aims of the scheme are to reduce carbon emissions, household energy bills and support employment in this sector.

The benefits to landlords are an improved EPC rating and an elimination of repair bills in the short term, as well as the reduction in the replacement cost. If your property has a gas boiler over 15 years old or an oil fired boiler over 20 years old, then it is very likely that you qualify for a voucher.

To date nearly 55,000 people have taken advantage of the offer, so if you are interested do not delay in contacting The Energy Savings Trust on 0800 512012.
