Tenant Registrations at Record Levels

In both June and July this year, rental prices increased across the country for the first time since summer last year, showing growth of 0.5% and 0.2% respectively. With the substantial increase in supply of property, one of the metrics we track very closely is tenant registrations. In the last week of July, we as a company achieved a record number of tenant registrations – 577 across our five offices– an amazing rate of one applicant every 4 working minutes. This represents an enormous 134% increase compared with the same figure in June and this heightened level of applicant activity has continued unabated into August.

Although demand is still weak at the highest end (>£1000pw), demand is certainly now outstripping supply in the mid market: our tenants are continuing to ask us for 2 or 3 bed properties and correctly priced properties of this size are starting to move quickly.
